Early Life
Tbo Touch was born Thabo Molefe on 4 April 1981. He is from Sharpeville, southern Gauteng, South Africa. His grandparents, Dr. PF and Rose Ntombiyokuthula Molefe, raised him.
He relocated to the United States of America at the age of 15. Robert and Majorie Winston Jones saw him through high school.
Education
Tbo Touch attended a public high school in Vereeniging and Thokoza Secondary School.
In 1997, Tbo Touch moved to the United States to Bishop Grimes, a Catholic high school in New York. He enrolled as a marketing major at Bond University.
Career
While in the United States, Tbo Touch was a bartender at Xstasy Night Club and Lounge, Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Tbo Touch was an intern at Def Jam Records in New York, where he met Cam’Ron, The Wu-Tang Clan, and Kelis, among other big names.
In 2003, Mr Lesley Ntloko, Leo Manne, and Mr Peter Matlare gave him a shot to join Metro FM. He started working as the host of Metro FM Live from New York City.
He started the Metro FM’s The International segment in 2004. On Saturdays, the show linked New York City’s Hot 97 station. He later moved to South Africa to host the Touch Down 326 drive at Metro FM in Johannesburg and has also hosted the annual Metro FM Awards.
In 2016, Tbo left the radio station. He received R200k a month when he left Metro FM. He returned to Metro FM following a salary increment of R480,000 per month.
He became the first South African media personality to host four programs, including live TV shows on SABC 1.
Tbo Touch is the founder of Trademark. The company played a role in staging Touch’s debut cross-border concern in 2004. He introduced the whole U.S. A-lister experience and was the first to play Nigerian music on radio and broadcast in Nigeria.
In 2005, Touch was part of the show Rhyme and Reason. He has hosted Metro FM Awards two times and brought about “tremendous influence” at Times Magazine. Through him, notable personalities, including Bishop TD Jakes, Preachers of LA, and Bishop Noel Jones, ministered in Soweto.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of Touch Central FM and the boss at TouchWarwick Wines. On 28 September 2024, his Replenishment Concert occurred at the Supersport Park Stadium in Centurion.
The Board of Directors and Management of Catholic School Bishop Grimes High honored Tbo Touch by renaming its arts center to Thabo Molefe Centre of Arts and Music.
Personal Life
DJ Touch dated actress Thuli Thabethe for 6 years. The duo ended their relationship in 2010 but are co-parenting their son Ruri.
In November 2014, Tbo Touch paid lobola for his girlfriend, Nandi Ganda, and put a Jenna Clifford yellow diamond ring on her finger at his parents’ home in Ruimsig.
In November 2015, Tbo Touch called off his wedding to Nandi. He also has a son with Nandi Molefe. His home is in Parkland estate in Steyn City.
