Early Life
Nonhle Thema was born on 15 October 1981 to veteran actress Cynthia Shange and late journalist Derrick Thema. She grew up with her parents and siblings, Sihle, Archie, and Benele. Her parents separated when Nonhle was three years old.
Education
Thema attended Sundown High School, Sandton, and matriculated from high school in 1999. She then enrolled in information technology at Allenby Campus and holds a marketing management diploma, MMI.
She won the Best Marketing Award after defeating thousands of students and was the first Miss Allenby Campus beauty queen. She attended acting classes in Los Angeles, USA.
Career
Nonhle Thema co-hosted the show V Entertainment on DStv’s Vuzu channel alongside Siyabonga Ngwekazi in July 2009.
In 2012, she became the commentator for the comedy show 10 Over 10 on Vuzu and Mzansi Wethu. She hosted O-Access, a Channel O music and magazine show, from seasons 1-4.
The actress appeared in season one of I Am, a documentary series on Vuzu and Mzansi Wethu.
Thema was the executive producer of her reality show Nonhle Goes to Hollywood on Vuzu in 2011. In 2013she appeared in the docu-reality television series Reality Check on e.tv.
In December 2013, she landed her first acting role in Zabalaza (2013) as Kgomotso. She worked with her mother, Cynthia Shange, who played her mother on the show.
In 2015, she entered the game and quiz show I Love South Africa season one on e.tv. In season one of the Mzansi Magic telenovela Gomora, Thema played Cleo and appeared in season two of Imposter as Evodia.
She played Joy in season two of Ke Ba Bolelletse and Guest Artist in season one of the soap opera Rhythm City.
When she flew to the United States of America, Nonhle thought of creating an academy in South Africa. In 2018, she launched the Talent Coaching Academy with four students. The number grew to fifty-five and has continued to grow.
Personal Life

Nonhle Thema married Arthur Bolton in 2012. The duo started their relationship in 2010 and decided to take it further.
The couple has a daughter, Star Phoenix Ivy Zime, whom they welcomed in October 2012. They own a home in one of Johannesburg’s northern suburbs.
