DJ Melzi was bornTumelo Mphai on 1 November 2001 in Pretoria, South Africa. He grew up in Orchards and Ninapark in Pretoria North.
He started DJing at age six but became a professional mixer as a teenager. He then started gigs but did them for free.
At 18, he started learning how to produce his music and installing production software on his laptop to make his sound.
Career
DJ Melzi released his hit Ma2000s, a song he crafted at 17 to pay homage to his Gen Z peers, and his single Menyonyo on Spotify in 2019. He dropped his song Isdliso ft. Mkeyz from the album Eighteen! in 2020.
Later, in 2020, he released the album The Bomb, with the hit singles La Melza and Bayekele featuring Mkeyz and Mphow69. He has worked with music legends such as Cassper Nyovest, Soulful G, MFR Souls, and Abidoza.
He is a platinum-selling producer and Disk Jockey and has served in the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Europe.

He was dating actress Andiswa, also known as The Bomb RSA. He made headlines for allegedly cheating on her. Melzi was engaged to Andiswa in 2020 and dedicated his EP titled “The Bomb” to her.
On 18 June 2023, he posted a picture of himself and his father while wishing him a happy Father’s Day.
