Jessica Motaung (born 23 August 1973) is a South African TV personality, beauty pageant titleholder, and sports executive.

Motaung won the 1997 Miss Gauteng Beauty Pageant, competed in Miss South Africa, and represented the country at Miss World. She is currently the Director of Marketing at Kaizer Chiefs.

Early Life

Jessica Motaung was born on 23 August 1973 in South Africa. She is the daughter of Kaizer Motaung, a former South African association football player, and Julegka Valeta Motaung, a former chair lady of the Methodist church.

She is the sister of Kemiso, Bobby Motaung, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, and Thabo, who passed away in 2012. She participated in sports during high school, including hockey, netball, tennis, athletics (running and the long jump), and swimming. She led some teams. 

Career

Jessica Motaung had a successful career as a model, competing in pageants. In 1997, she won the title of Miss Gauteng Beauty Pageants and was Miss South Africa’s first runner-up and Miss World’s second runner-up.

Jessica hosted the SABC 1 television programme ‘Speak Out’ in 1998.

Her journey with Kaizer Chiefs started in 1998. She is the marketing director at the club under her father’s leadership. She has made an unwavering dedication to the club, which has contributed to the growth of women in sports management.

With over 25 years at Kaizer Chiefs, Jessica has contributed to moments and achievements for the club. The club has clinched trophies and built a strong fan base. She has also helped to empower South African women in football and sports.

Protea Glen Secondary School hosted Jessica Motaung on 11 March 2015. She was honored for being one of the most influential women in South Africa.

In August 2015, Northern Natal News named Motaung on their Top 10 South Africa’s Most Influential Women. She was also a nominee for the 2015 Woman of the Year Awards alongside Thandi Merafe and Patricia Kambarami.

Jessica was appointed to serve on the CAF’s organizing committee on women’s football in 2021. She has also served on the SAFA’s Women’s Committee in 2023. She pioneered the culture of inclusivity at the club.

Jessica has been instrumental in building the clubs as one of the biggest brands on the African continent. She has also helped the club maintain relationships with sponsors such as Vodacom, Toyota, and Kappa.

Motaung continues contributing to developing sports in South Africa by sitting on various Boards of sporting bodies. She was appointed the first deputy chairperson of the African Clubs Association (ACA) in December 2023, during the launch of the Caf-affiliated body in Egypt.

Jessica Motaung attended and graduated from the SuperSport Industry Leaders Programme in 2022. It was conducted in conjunction with the Gordon Institute of Business.

Jessica is a member of the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) Board of Governors.

Personal Life

Jessica was engaged to her fiancé, Ken Simmons. In 2011, he accused her of cheating with Kaizer Chiefs employee Thato Matuka, which she denied.

Motaung is a proud mother of two sons, Donald and Kenneth, who plays basketball. She enjoys listening to music, including R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and classics, and is an avid reader of books.

She has two pet dogs, Hamilton, a Golden Retriever, and Amber, a King Charles Spaniel.
