Early Life
Bahumi Madisakwane was born on 9 February 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her father, Somizi Mhlongo, is a television presenter, while her mother, Palesa Madisakwane, is an actress.
Her mother raised her while her father was absent, with the support of her aunt Joyce. Growing up around entertainers, Bahumi developed about performing at a young age. She began public speaking at the age of 10.
Her paternal grandparents, Mary Twala and Ndaba Mhlongo, were legendary actors. She started to speak in church, either MC’ing or sharing a message and involved herself in school outreaches. She began acting at a young age.
She later changed her last name from Madisakwane to Mhlongo, as her mother convinced her to follow her people’s traditions.

Education
Madisakwane holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Law. She declines a scholarship to the New York Film Academy for a Film Production degree.
She studied dramatic arts and filmmaking at Pro Arte Alphen Park and completed film directing and writing at AFDA.
Career
Madisakwane has made appearances in children’s shows, including Snazzy Stories. She had roles in television ads for Arrive Alive and Woolworths.
While studying, she landed her first television acting role. She played a supporting character, Zola, in the SABC 2 telenovela Keeping Score (2017).
In 2019, she starred as the young Lebo Mathosa in the first African biopic by BET Africa called Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story. She was also featured in her father’s reality show, Living the Dream with Somizi.
Madisakwane landed a role in the comedy-drama series Grown Woman on 1Magic. She joins the cast of legendary actors, including Linda Sokhulu, Bohang Moeko, Hlubi Mboya, Bahumi Mhlongo, and Nandi Nyembe.
Aside from acting, Madisakwane is also a motivational and professional speaker. She has inspired many listeners with her authenticity and spiritual growth. She runs the Youth MC’ing Department at Rhema Bible Church.
In 2025, Madisakwane hosted the empowerment event ‘Speak and Be Heard’ at Steyn City Hotel.
Personal Life

Bahumi Madisakwane is currently single. She speaks three languages, including Tswana, Xhosa, and Zulu, and is a devout Christian.
Madisakwane suffers from a condition known as lymphoedema, which causes swelling in the body’s tissues. She revealed that it had made one of her legs bigger than the other.
