The former beauty queen also represented her home country at the Miss World 2015, held in Sanya, China. She has also been involved in other projects, including Babies Behind Bars.

Early Life
Liesl Laurie was born on 24 December 1990 in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
She grew up with her mother, Karen Laurie, a high school teacher, and her grandmother in the struggling community of Eldorado Park. Her father was not part of her life.
Education
Liesl Laurie obtained a BCom in accounting from the University of Johannesburg in 2013.
Career
After completing her studies, Liesl worked as a volunteer to gain experience. She also entered local pageants and used her experience in preparation for Miss South Africa.
On 29 March 2015, Laurie won the Miss South Africa 2015 title at the Sun City Super Bowl. She took the crown, defeating 11 contestants who made it to the finals.
After winning the title, she flew to South Africa to participate in Miss World 2015, held in Sanya, China. She entered the pageantry as one of the 114 contestants and made it to the finals.
She was crowned the Continental Queen of Africa after placing the highest of contestants from other African countries.
Liesl founded The Pearl Project, a non-profit organization that educates young women in Eldorado Park and Soweto.
She is involved with the foundation Babies Behind Bars, which helps care for babies whose mothers are in jail. She came across the foundation when she was in Miss Soweto and decided to be a volunteer,
Personal Life
Liesl Laurie is married to television host Musa Mthombeni. The duo had their white wedding ceremony on 18 August 2021. Musa proposed to her in June 2021 on a mountaintop in Durban.
The couple invited 15 family members to their wedding, and guests wore black to the celebration at Hello Timber in Pretoria.
In 2024, her husband, Musa Mthombeni, announced that people should expect them to have children in at least 5 to 10 years. They celebrated their third wedding anniversary in the scenic city of Athens, Greece, in 2024.
Liesl Laurie dated hip-hop artist Tebogo Thekisho, also known as ProVerb, for 3 years before they broke up in 2018. They confirmed they were dating in 2017. She has a younger sister, Michaela Laurie.
